WHY DO YOU NEED PUBLICITY??

Because people do believe what they see, hear and read.

Did you know that every major record label has a publicity department and that every major artist has a publicist? There is good reason for it --publicity is an important professional tool in assuring an act's success. As a publicity person it is my responsibility to get every tidbit of publicity about you to the media whether it be TV, radio, magazines or newspapers. I work closely with managers and agents to obtain exposure for you through live interviews, press releases, and personal appearances for promotional considerations. Every time an act's name is seen or heard it plants a seed in the mind of the reader, listener or viewer. Good advertising has sold products for years, and as an artist, good publicity is your method of advertising.
The old saying is "perception is everything" and that is true. You can't blow your own horn, but I can blow it for you, and I can blow it ten times louder than you would. That allows you your modesty and the ability to say, "Yeah I did that but it's not that big a deal." The truth is that people believe what they read. Now - do I lie to get attention? No, I create something that is newsworthy and then give that idea to an artist or take a situation and make it newsworthy.
A person can have the greatest product in the world and if nobody knows about it - it won't sell. Most people record an album and their money is spent, when there should have been funding to publicize the album and the artist to stimulate sales. I have seen publicity, promotion and marketing make the difference time after time.
An act should constantly keep their name in front of everybody in the business. When I was senior editor at Performance magazine in the mid-90s, I got regular press releases from "The Dixie Chicks." Every four to six weeks they would send me something, and they always had something new to say. They marketed themselves and everybody here in Nashville had heard their name and knew what they were about 10 years before they hit the big time.
Is publicity worth it? A half page ad in a newspaper can cost several thousand dollars, however I have gotten my clients many half-page newspaper articles. A 60 second commercial on a radio station can cost several hundred dollars and I have gotten my clients radio interviews that sometimes last 30 minutes to an hour. Television time is expensive but I have been able to get my clients television interviews that last several minutes.
Isn't it time you considered a publicity plan? I have plans to fit every budget.
