WHAT I THINK ABOUT WARWICK BASS GUITARS

I have been playing bass guitar since 1970 and I have played many brands and models and have always been in search of that certain sound and feel.  It's one of those sounds that I couldn't exactly describe but I knew I would know it when I heard it.

I have owned and played the Fenders - the Jazz, the Precision and even a Telecaster bass.  I owned one of the first Ovation basses; a Rickenbacker 4002 stereo bass; Yamahas and the list goes on and on.  My point is I have tried most every bass there is to try, including the high dollar Alembics and Pedullas.  They were all good and worked in certain applications, but I was looking for something special.

In 2003, I was at a live show and finally heard "the sound."  The sound that I had been searching for more than 30 years.  A consistent round bottom sound with clarity on all the strings.  I discovered the bass of my dreams at that point -- and it was a Warwick.  I immediately began to investigate the instrument and found it to be exactly what I had been wanting in a bass guitar all these years.  I won't bore you with technical data but you can find that out on your own at the Warwick Home Page.

I am playing the Five String Thumb Bass Bolt On and it is incredible.  The bass is at home both on the road and in the recording studio and the compliments I receive on both the sound and beauty of the instrument are overwhelming, especially from fellow bass players.  Whether I am playing at the Grand Ole Opry or in some small town, musicians, as well as the general public, will come up to me interested in the look and sound of the guitar.

My advice to you is to find a music store that carries the Warwick brand and try the guitar for yourself.  The price range varies to fit most budgets and in playing most of the models, I have found even the lower priced guitars deliver the goods.

Take my word for it and check it out - I think you will be glad you did - then email me with your thoughts at dickmcvey@comcast.net.
